Claims Management: Background and Philosophy

At BETA Healthcare Group (BHG), we believe in the ethical, efficient, and economical resolution of claims through early intervention, quality investigation, and proactive management. Our professional liability representatives are some of the most knowledgeable in the industry—well versed in medical terminology, legal issues, and insurance as well as hospital staff and publicity concerns. They are assigned fewer cases than the industry norm so they have the time to thoroughly investigate claims while understanding each facility's individual needs and constraints.

To ensure continuity, a single representative handles each claim from inception to resolution, working closely with claims supervisors for input and ideas. Our claims professionals perform many tasks that commercial carriers typically delegate to legal counsel, including investigation and interviews. They attend settlement conferences, mediations and trials, interact with member facilities' risk managers, and play an active role in all settlement negotiations.

When outside legal counsel is required, we work closely with a select group of defense attorneys who specialize in professional liability cases. We defend nonmeritorious claims vigorously and move quickly to resolve cases that have merit in the most equitable manner for all concerned.
